Chief Investment Officer

Ahmed Abdulla Al Sakran has more than 23 years of professional experience across investments, financial services, asset management, and human capital development. His expertise spans alternative investments, private equity, venture capital, private credit, investment banking, project and corporate finance, asset and portfolio management, investment funds, mergers and acquisitions, and transaction structuring. Throughout his career, he has led and participated in regional transactions and investments with an aggregate value exceeding US$1 billion.

His experience covers the full investment lifecycle, from opportunity origination, deal sourcing and feasibility assessment through financial, legal and commercial due diligence, valuation, financial modelling, transaction structuring, negotiation and execution, to post-acquisition management, portfolio oversight, value creation, restructuring and exits. He also has specialized experience in the structuring, evaluation and execution of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) and Build-Own-Operate (BOO) projects, as well as project finance, debt and equity structures.

Mr. Al Sakran currently serves as Chief Investment Officer of Tanmeya Capital, where he leads the firm’s investment strategy and oversees the development, structuring and execution of investments, as well as the management of investment and financing funds and portfolios. His responsibilities also encompass investment governance and committee activities, together with managing relationships with investors, financial institutions, strategic partners and other key stakeholders.

He began his career in banking supervision at the Central Bank of Bahrain before moving into regulated investment banks, investment companies and asset management businesses across the Arabian Gulf. His career has included roles at Investors Bank, Sorooh Investment Company and Capinnova Investment Bank—the Islamic investment banking arm of Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait—as well as Golden Trust Training & Consultancy, where he served as Managing Director and led its regional operations. This breadth of experience has provided him with a distinctive combination of regulatory insight, investment expertise, institutional leadership, governance, risk management and human capital development.

His sector experience spans financial services and asset management, real estate and infrastructure, manufacturing, information and communications technology, healthcare, retail, higher education, vocational education and training, hospitality and tourism, and human capital development.

Geographically, Mr. Al Sakran’s professional and investment experience extends across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, with additional investment exposure and transactions across Jordan, Türkiye, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. This has provided him with broad experience across diverse regional and international investment markets and regulatory environments.

Mr. Al Sakran has served on Investment & Credit Committees (ICC) and Asset & Liability Committees (ALCO), in addition to holding current and previous board positions across investment funds, companies, professional bodies and academic institutions. These include Tanmeya Financing Fund I, Tanmeya Financing Fund II, Medrar Al’Aredh Real Estate Fund, the Advisory Board of the College of Business at the Arab Open University – Bahrain, and the Bahrain Small & Medium Enterprises Society.

Mr. Al Sakran holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Financial Services from Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. He also holds professional qualifications in capital markets, investment and project finance, including the Certified Project Finance Specialist (CPFS) designation.
